Snacks & Kisses

She barks in her sleep.
Likes to eat that grass pâté the yard guy leaves behind.
After a particularly good walk I bought her a rubber duck (like the ones they have at the carnival).

She chewed its head off.
Took three minutes.

A couple of weeks ago a little girl we'd never met, four years old, grabbed her by her muzzle with both hands and planted a big ol' kiss right on her mouth.

Me and the woman with the child nearly fainted on that one.

We went to a craft fair last weekend.
It was very crowded with people and dogs.
There was a couple walking behind us and the man started talking
about how he didn't trust "those" dogs.
They were "violent" he said, and "dangerous".

He rambled on as if I couldn't hear him.

We pulled over to the side long enough to let them step ahead of us
and spent the next few minutes tailgating them.

Just for fun I gave Stella the same speech about middle-aged men in khaki pants.

Oh I just love you! That was the BEST comment about "men in Khaki pants"! And, who would not want to kiss that sweet face?

I laughed out loud about you tail-gating "khaki man" and giving him a dose of his own rude medicine.

Stella continues to grow in grace... she sounds like a joy to have around. Her new portrait is beautiful. Her sleeping, eating and playing habits are comical.

If I ever meet Stella in person, I'll plant a big kiss on her too (but with plenty of warning).

So well-written. I can completely relate to the child running up.

Ha!

So glad I read that post before heading down the road to race a motorbike.....I had a pair of khaki's laid out to travel in.....traded them out for a pair of Levi's because I didn't want to take a chance at that I'd end up in that guys category!

And, I agree with Colleen and Susan Rose, next time I get a chance to see her, I'll be kissing that sweet face!

Priceless last line. Love your beveled-edge words!

A rude guy (who Buck knew slightly -- not his fault) once invited himself & his wife to join us for coffee at our table in a restaurant. He loudly said to me: "Do you hunt?" I looked at him, considering, and finally said, very quietly, "Oh, no, I could never harm a deer." Then half a beat later, with him in the sights of my narrowed green eyes, "But there are some people I could shoot." He didn't get it, but his wife looked disturbed for just a moment and then busted out laughing. She laughed until she cried.
