Afraid Not

She's not afraid of trains. The other day we saw one weaving through the landscape in Brentwood and it kick-started her hyperactive prey drive. She's not afraid of straight pipes on Harleys either. She's not afraid of the school bus or airplanes or the FedEx man or even the vet.

Bugs. She's afraid of bugs. Have I written that? I can't remember. I can't get her attention but a tiny little moth can. The other night she shot out of her bed like a rocket and ran for the door.

"Stella," I said. "Babe. You're a Pit Bull." It gave her no comfort.

She flashed me a worried look and lay down in the doorway, refusing to come back in the room. When I finally turned out the light she gave it up and returned. Today she ran barking, from a silver fish and jumped up on the bed like a girl. It was hysterical.

I never get tired of looking at that face; had a cat like that once. Louie. He was so magnificent I couldn't replace him with another cat. I had to get a dog instead. Ahem.

p.s. You know those green caterpillars that have the capacity to level a nice perennial garden in about three days? This week - we're using those as treats.

Moths and silverfish. Don't you just love dogs' idiosyncrasies? Maggie, for example, only barks at helicopters and buzzards (oh well, and sometimes jet skis, but then, so do I). And she is afraid of flashlights.

SO BRAVE about the trains, Harleys, buses, airplanes, FedEx men and the dreaded vet!!!

About the bugs: Maybe Stella knows something we don't. :)

About the caterpillars: I don't understand. Who receives them as treats?

Beth, it is totally strange. (I wish I knew what they were thinking too :)

SusanRose, Stella gets the caterpillars but not before I murder those little b#@%^%$s!

I'm in Stella's shoes! I dislike bugs a lot! Poor P tries to catch them, but she's usually no good at it!

I don't see how ANYONE could keep from staring at that beautiful face, she's just magnificent. And afraid of bugs, that's just so silly it's precious!

I agree, what a beautiful face to look at at all times.....

Question.....does a caterpillar treat make Stello drool green from the schnozzle like frogs used to make my Toby dog do? Toby used to look like he was rabid when he'd eat a frog, in a green sort of foamy sort of way.....

*snort* So, Maimo is afraid of...
wind. Yes, a little "wooo" of wind coming through the window will send him into a corner in a fit of shivers. We say the same thing to him: "Maimo, you're a PIT BULL"

He doesn't seem to understand why that should make a difference.

Oh yeah - the backup alarm of our neighbour's truck throws him into spasms. And last night? The timer on our fan clicking each minute (I had to sit in complete silence to hear it) sent him tearing from the room, hiding in the office until the fan clicked off.

Pitties. :sigh:
