Critter Patrol

We walked up on some goats yesterday. It's Tennessee people. Stella knew something was up even though we couldn't get as close to them as I would've liked. I told her they were Irish Setters but seeing as how she can smell the last bite of a nine-day-old corn dog from two miles away, I'm thinking she knew better. Just minutes before that we were attacked by a flock of butterflies. If everyone could get attacked by butterflies on a regular basis I decided, the world would be a much nicer place. Pretty fun but no camera.

This morning we were coming in the house and a fox ran through the yard right past us. I felt a broken wrist coming on but somehow - Stella missed the whole thing.

This article discusses a new law that bans dogs from cemeteries in Concord New Hampshire. I felt conflicted about letting dogs run in the cemetery myself but over the last two years, I've done a complete one-eighty on it. I think off leash they add a joyful quality to a cemetery that not even a mean ghost could resist. What do you all think?

I've been swarmed by butterflies while driving. It's beautiful but the outcome wasn't pretty. I'd much prefer it on foot.

If people could be responsible about picking up after their dogs and respect those people that are at the cemtary to mourn the loss of a loved one, I don't think it would be a bad thing.

Unfortunately, in todays world, there's a serious lack of respect and responsibility.

Stella's markings take me by surprise each time i see a picture of her! She's just so freaking gorgeous!

My granddogs (who are rowdy, but respectful as all get-out) l-o-v-e to run in the cemetary. Izzie knows exactly where their great grandpa's grave is.

Were those wild Tennessee goats or someone's livestock? A butterfly attack... WOW! And foxes in the backyard are always wonderful. I see both red and gray foxes here in my Georgia backyard (just rarely enough to make it a special event).

About dogs in cemetaries: There are two sides to this coin, but I will side with dogs being allowed there as long as they leave nothing behind and there's absolutely no leg-lifting on headstones. The problem would be enforcing proper behavior. There's usually one person who breaks the rules and spoils it for others.

I've just discovered your blog...love it! My husband and I often visit cemetaries, and regularly take our dog with us. As a girl dog, there's no leg lifting, and we clean up after her, of course. I totally agree that dogs bring joy whever they go, and a graveyard is no exception. We steer clear of people wanting to be alone with their loved ones, and instead, tidy up the graves of those who no longer get many visitors.

BTW, your Stella is gorgeous!
